Yesterday Bear & I discovered a stray kitten hanging around our property.
Sucker that I am, I went down stairs & spoiled her with food, water & enough attention to last a lifetime. Wrapped around her little finger paw she has me.
Midnight last night, after I could take it no longer, I went back down stairs to see if she wanted to come up.. Did she ever! She raced up the staircase & went right to our door. I didn’t expect her to race up the other staircase once she actually got into the apartment… where she was faced with our own big, scaredy cat who at first was too distracted by the tuna Bear had opened to coax the kitten who, well, needed no such thing.
Said Fraidy cat was a little…. fazed shall we say, & once she realized that this wasn’t another one of my cuddly toys, there was a lot of hissing & growling, but she did us proud. They slept in the same room for a couple of hours, albeit at opposite ends.
Not wanting the kitten (now Christened, Tater tot) to feel at all trapped in here, once she woke up & started exploring, I showed her the way she’d come in. She obviously wanted outside so I took her out & sat with her on the steps. I swear, she was all over me.. & more vocal than ever with her “Come with me! Run away with me! I can show you cool things!!” After a couple of minutes outside she was scratching to get back into the house. Poor thing was really tore up about what to do. Since it was already 3am & it was a pretty warm night, I figured I’d leave her out, not wanting to cause any more stress to either of them.. The plan was to keep her overnight & call Animal Services in the morning.. we’re still planning on that, perhaps with the hope of adopting… It’s a tough call but ah hell, I’m stumped, tough nothing!
I haven’t seen her yet today, but I can’t wait.
Seriously. Hook, line & sinker. I’m sold.
Luckily my heart is big enough for two….

Thank you for the comment… We talked it over today and he is more understanding now. He was just so shocked by my “freakout” over what he considered no-big-deal.
As for the kitten, when I brought in my second cat, my own fraidy cat finally warmed up about 3 weeks into it, and now they are the best of friends.
Now that I am married, we are a blended family of three beautiful and SPOILED cats.
I also wanted to compliment you on your writing, your blogs are intriguing and good reading.
