So Bubba aka Kojak, (my choice thank you. I felt it was fitting – you know, with the whole brawn/hard thing yet he’s constantly sucking on a lollipop?) went to the Vet’s yesterday to get checked out & my god, were they fawning over him or what. The staff loved him.
I knew Bear was slightly nervous about the waiting room, you know, with all the dogs/cats/birds/you name it, & yeah, it was busy but even when there were dogs barking at him left & right, he didn’t bother at all. He was so well behaved & even allowed the vet to trim him claws (much needed may I add!) with no trouble whatsoever. I’m amazed. I wish I could have been there….
He’s 58lbs (big boy, I know) but thats 10-12lbs underweight for his breed. He’s a Pit Bull/Boxer mix, which is awesome as I have my own Boxer here at my mums so I’m even more smitten now. Anyway, he’s gorgeous & everyone said how great his attitude is & what a fantastic disposition he has.
The vet said he was probably 2 & a half years old & had most likely been neglected for a year, maybe more. When Bear told me that my eyes welled up. God, it’s heartbreaking. Why he still looks up with such trusting eyes I’ll never know, poor soul. I get so emotional just thinking about it.
Safe to say, Rocky loves him. Miss Toonces (the angry black ball of fur under the bed) is a different story but when isn’t she! We decided to give her some space last night though & tried putting up the baby gate we originally bought for Rocky (fat lot of good that did when he just jumped over it!) & you know what, Kojak was just fine. He slept downstairs like such a good boy last night, no whinning, no accidents, no nothing. I’m so impressed.
Yep, he’s a keeper!

Kojak is a brilliant name. I’m glad he’s settling in, bless. I bet you can’t wait to meet him!
