Black Privilege

“It’s not the color of your skin, sweetie. It’s the color of your politics”.

-As was so brilliantly put by Michelle Malkin.

As opposed to being black, piss poor & not knowing who the father is?!

Now first, I’m not a white racist. I simply call out what I see. I’ve seen it, I’ve fucking lived it & you know what? I’m fucking done with it. It’s is & can only get worse evidently….

You know that 70% of black children are born illegitimately in America? Born to a father they probably will never know?

Tell you what, I know which family I’d want to be born in to. So yeah, it is okay that they are white & it is even better that they at least have a pot to piss in.

Yeah, enjoy your food stamps & my fucking tax dollars.

I couldn’t resist leaving a retort when I came across this caption. Not to mention, there’s nothing quite like the smearing of a candidates child, classy no?

Oh, but lets not forget my fellow white & wealthy scum – “White privilege is to blame”.

  1. I wonder when people will leave her alone? I agree with your sentiments. It’s commonplace (in all races really) for illegitimately born children now. Heck, it’s in my family; it’s in my husband’s family, and both families were raised with upstanding, moral, Christian parents who tried to pass those morals along. I’m wondering if when I have children, that they’ll be the oddity in that their parents were married when they had them…

I commend her for sticking with the father. Yes, a mistake was made–it happens. Children have their own minds and free will, no matter how hard parents try to instill them with theirs. Apparently something her mother taught her stuck with her since she is marrying the father.

Anyway, refreshing to see someone stick up for her and not attack the poor girl. Or use the overly worn and pathetic race card. :)

  2. Unlike a lot of people, I guess I just can’t help myself but stand up & call people out when I see something that is so obviously wrong. And Christ, like we haven’t had the race card enough with Oboma – terrorists best friend? I rest my case :)

Thanks for your comment Dara :)

  3. You know what? I am pretty much sick of the whole race issue – especially in America. First of all, people are human. It doesn’t matter color, creed or class. Secondly, who cares about who is sleeping with whom? The media has made it an issue. And think about it – would we really know about Bristol’s pregnancy if Sarah Palin was not in the spotlight? Hell NO! She would be just another teenage pregnancy statistic. Thirdly, if people had some business of their own, this would not be a topic of conversation.

Eleanor Roosevelt said that “Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people.” Since I’d like to think that I fall into the first category, I’m moving on now.

  4. Then why on earth did you quote Mr White Guilt himself, Tim Wise?

Never mind that your own blog contains nothing but the issue of race. Not to mention you jumped on the band wagon as well with the whole “If Bristol were black she would be called anything but a child of god”.

  5. I do talk about race alot because I am affected by it. I live it and the media throws it in our faces constantly. There is very little positive about Black people in the media, and it pisses me off. So, yes, I do discuss race alot on my blog. There is nothing I can do to change how people think, but I can definitely share my thoughts on the issue. That doesn’t mean that I’m not sick of the topic. There is no getting away from it. So, instead of becoming bitter; I write about it to release my frustrations.

You know what? I really don’t think I read Tim Wise’s entire article. However, the one thing that stood out to me was the very first point which made it worthy enough to put on my blog:

“White privilege is when you can get pregnant at seventeen like Bristol Palin and everyone is quick to insist that your life and that of your family is a personal matter, and that no one has a right to judge you or your parents, because “every family has challenges,” even as black and Latino families with similar “challenges” are regularly typified as irresponsible, pathological and arbiters of social decay.”

And this pretty much goes along with the point that I made before. If Bristol was Black, the issue would be addressed differently and more negatively. I know you watch TV. It may not be as painfully obvious to you, as it is to me, but the media address Black and White issues differently. And from where I am viewing it, it is not nice.

  6. Like I don’t live this bullshit too, like I’m not going out of my fucking mind with this whole legacy you guys got going over here. I’m telling you, it does my nut in. Time for some mass introspection & maybe a little bit of getting the fuck over it?!

Thing is, we don’t have this bullshit in Scotland, so for me to come over here & see it with a fresh mind, it’s pretty much been non-stop, especially with that dreadful series on CNN. So yeah, it is painfully obvious to me.

But of course, only the white man could be racist right. Because it doesn’t work both ways.

Looks like we’re both sitting on the same bench because my view doesn’t look too good from here either.

  7. It’s great to know that we are sitting on the same bench. So, you understand my feelings on the overload of racial issues in America?

It would be nice to get over all of the nonsense, but the reality is, racism is alive and kicking. It’s not swept under the rug like it’s used to be, and it’s even more challenging living in a segregated city like Chicago. That’s not to say that it’s not happening anywhere else. I”m just going by my own personal experience and frustrations. Then you have the elections. So much garbage has been pulled from this situation that it’s too much AND it’s on ALL the time.

One particular frustration for me is the police situation here is Chicago. I don’t live in the worst neighborhood on the South side (mostly minority), and it’s getting worse with the demolition of the housing projects (low income individuals with a “different” mindset). If I called the police to tell them that kids are out of order for whatever reason, it will take a while for them to respond, IF they respond. Now, the cops on the North side of Chicago will respond in less than 2 minutes -depending on traffic. The North side is mostly white.

Racism exists on both sides. However, it doesn’t matter how racist a Black person is, (s)he will NEVER hold the power or money to do anything about it. And if the government feels that a Black person may have too much influence, they take care of the “problem.”

I did not see the series on CNN so I cannot discuss the content with you.

  8. Correction. Black people cannot be racist according to the definition of racism. However, they can be prejudiced.

Racism: Prejudice or discrimination based on an individual’s race; can be expressed individually or through institutional policies or practices. racism is a system of oppression — a nexus of racist beliefs, whether explicit, tacit or unconscious; practices; organizations and institutions that combine to discriminate against and marginalize a class of people who share a common racial designation, based on that designation. http://www.hsp.org/default.aspx?id=397

    Racism
Racism is prejudice or discrimination based on the belief that race is the primary factor determining human traits and abilities. Racism includes the belief that genetic or inherited differences produce the inherent superiority or inferiority of one race over another. In the name of protecting their race from “contamination,” some racists justify the domination and destruction of races they consider to be either superior or inferior. Institutional racism is racial prejudice supported by institutional power and authority used to the advantage of one race over others. http://www.adl.org/children_holocaust/more_resources.asp

  9. Well, I wonder when the government will ‘take care’ of Obama? Condoleezza Rice? Oprah?

Screw definitions, we all know it’s a two way street.

Prejudice is pre-judging someone based on appearance, race, skin color, how they act, ect. How is racism any different?

Racism is merely a matter of how someone thinks, it is not about power but that’s a nice excuse.

Anyway, I’m not about to start nit picking on degrees of racism here.

  10. I want to thank you for this conversation. I needed to get some things offa my chest and this helped.

  11. Just reading all this has made my heart start racing, and my head spinning. I get so ANGRY with all the race shit makes me freaking crazy. I had a man aske me for money on the corner yesterday, and I told him, no. I live in a big ass city, adn if I gave every freaking homeless person money, I wold be broke! I give money to the church, and they can divvy it out from there. When I told him, no I am sorry, he yelled at me and called me a racist. WTF??? I don’t give a shit if you are black, white, purple, or spotted, I worked HARD for my money, and I don’t have to give you ANY! I have to say, a large part of it is socioeconomic status to, race or otherwise. Nothing pisses me off more then the fact that because my husband and I work our ASSES off we are going to get taxed more, while people (and yes, I recognize not ALL people) that are on welfare don’t do shit but get pregnant over and over again. ARRGGHH!!
Anyway, hugs Aria, I agree with you wholeheartedly.
    Zoe

  12. Oh, and sorry for the typos, I hit submit before I proofread. :P

  13. Ah, Zoe, don’t sweat it. I love that you got so fired up :P

  14. Ok. So we’re discussing race ahe? Interestingly enough, my best friend, a black man, whom I have been best friends with for 20 years, well, we got into it a bit today. But as always, we said sorry and made amends. He’s always been my guy and I’ve always been his. He said to me, “I know you aren’t about race, but others are.” I asked him for evidence to back up his claim. All he could say to me was “you know it’s always there.”

And I do but it does cut both ways. My nation has such a legacy of bigotry that it makes me wonder if we’ll ever get through it. Yet by and large, we all get along so well day to day. We’re not killing each other every day like in other parts of the globe. We get on the bus and say hello how are you. We pass each other on the street and get on just fine. And when the chips are down we rally around each other because, we are first and foremost, Americans. And we will always fight for each other. ALWAYS.

So I’ll say, yeah we have issues to deal with. We disagree on a lot of matters. But we’re all still Americans and we will always fight together, for each other and we shall support our brothers & sisters. Forever.

  15. Thanks for you participation Marcie :)

  16. It is the children who ultimately suffer because they have no choice into what they born. It is shame that children grow up and then lose this innocence…
